Exhaust Gasket Install
Hi Guy's,
Long time since I have replaced a manifold gasket, and nothing on a V8 before. 352 V8 1966, left manifold (looking from front of truck to back) has a leak. I thought it was the doughnut gasket on where the manifold meets the exhaust down tube, but unable to get the assembly apart without disconnecting the manifold (exhaust welded together further down). I have ordered a gasket set, which I plan to install this weekend. Will replace the doughnut at the same time as the manifold gasket. I belive the manifold is the issue. The noise is coming from the rear of the engine. Question is. Do you add any sealant to the manifold gasket or install it dry? I know about torqing the bolts working from the middle out etc, but no idea if adding sealant to the assembly will help? :-X03 |
Any ideas guys?

Cheers, makes sense. Smear some between head and gasket ;)
