Would you? 2002 7.3 with 192xxx miles

So in my hunt for a 6.8L I stumbled upon a 2002 XLT 7.3 with 192,xxx miles.

I don't even want to go look at it because I know the "big kid" in me will hear that diesel motor crank over & I'll go "take my money" mode.

I went so far as to actually pay for a carfax in the hope of some more insight, it wasn't very enlightening as to any service history and it being a 2002.

Carfax said it was about 400 above book... lol whatever that means. :-blah

My concern is I know the motor is should be great, its everything else that should or would start to fail. Transmission being a big one?

What's the asking price and condition?

Body, and all the basics look good, as I said I haven't looked at it in person yet, price is listed at 13K.

The miles are no big deal by themselves. We just do not have enough to go on at this point. No pics? Anything else you can tell us?

Looks to be in nice shape from those photos. I did notice some rust on the hitch that I would want to check out pretty thoroughly.

New Jersey... that's a big salt state right? I would take a close look at the underside to see what kind of rust you're looking at. Don't be fooled by a fresh paint job, which appears to be what they did to the hitch.

Cheers,

Nate

Was my thought too... at the very least I might go eye ball it & make sure to leave the check at home. Also noticed all new tires and the rims are not factory plus there looks to be a break controller of some sort.

Looks good! Good color (same as mine) and price is about right...

It's a sexy beast. At least from a dealer it should have been given a pretty good safety check. As long as the dealer is reputable and rust isn't a problem, it's awesome.

Bought my '01 several years back for $15k with 183k on it, however it's fully loaded. Had a smidgen of rust in a window channel but otherwise flawless. Until I got my hands on it that is.

I think it's a little too much for an xlt without leather, also concerned about the rust. Like others are pointing out tow hitch looks pretty bad. Check out Fort Lauderdale CL we have a ton of clean excursions at this time for sale.
