What can I learn from this torque app dashboard screenshot?
Towed the trailer to the coast this weekend and on the way back did a few snapshots of the dashboard as it is. One is idle and the other was pulling up a grade. With the TM wastgate controller and the billet wheel, I will see over 25psi boost (once rpm move up a bit from where they are on the DB) with no apparent de fueling. Baro does read 14.7 at sea level. So not sure what's going on there. I'm still learning on the ICP HPOP relationship and it *appears* that balance is correct but would like some feedback.

Everything looks good to me. Back pressure is alittle high, Probably nothing. The PW also seems high on both screen shots. I have single shots so maybe that's why its so high compared to mine. Not sure. But it all looks good to me. It will defuel if it senses too much egt or boost. Your right in line, so it shouldn't. Put a huge trailer on there and smack it on a hill. It will defuel then, saving you from burning up a piston.

I would assume you are used to single shots. I was towing our trailer so as I understood it, should have de fueled at 22psi and yet I can see high 25psi and still nothing. Truck has never been tuned but was reflashed a two or three years ago.
The HPOP peaking at 3,197 seems quite good for under 3K rpm. |
A pulse width of 3.2 ms at idle seems pretty damn high, mine is always around 2.6 ms

We can learn that cold air intakes only work at idle, when they are least needed.
Overall everything looks like a healthy truck. Might even qualify for robust or strapping. :) Baro should read about 14.7 at sea level, that's text book. Stock trans cooler? "Reflashed"? By who? Stock tune will defuel at 22 psi... unless tuned. |
Dorman 6.0 trans cooler - it is awesome. I read that the cold air reduces intake temp 20 degrees when driving under max load vs. idling...
Flashed by Ford . The truck has never been chipped. I've read about 22.psi being the threshold but since I'm not experiencing it, am concerned. |
1. Your oil is too hot. Does the cooling fan roar like a jet sometimes? "I dunno" is like saying you are unsure if your hair is on fire - you're gunna know if that cooling fan kicks in. If not, fan clutch highly suspect.
2. Your torque converter lock up ain't happenin', or your PID is reading wrong. I suspect your engine sounds nice, but you're wondering where this alleged "permagrin" is. |
Which engine coolant thermostat are you running and what was the ambient while pulling the grade?

I see similar EOT when pulling a load. It could be 220 degrees - not lower. The fan clutch seems to kick on and off at that temp. I also only notice at higher RPM. At 1800 RPM I don't hear added fan noise. With a downshift at 2500 RPM I can hear it....
The 2nd set of gauges seems strange. 0 MPH, 685 RPM and 1660 torque slip. |

Torque Converter Slip Short Name: Slip PID: 2211b8 Units: RPM Max/Min: Max 1000.0/0.0 ** Equation: ((A*256)+B)/4 I just noticed the EBP is too high at idle. I would verify all the PID settings, then I would look at MAP and EBP with the Key On, Engine Off (KOEO). |

A little about when this screenshot occurred: It was the last "Big" hill climb before going down to the valley after 60 miles of hill climbs. It was sunny, hot, around mid 90 that day. 1) The cooling fan did kick in on this pull. I don't know what the Tstat is or how long but would assume based on the findings with the rest of the truck it is either the original or a ford replacement at some point. I do have a new one from RR along with a billet housing to install. Just need to do it. 2)On this particular hill, the TC did not lock, it was steep and I was pushing the truck. All the other hills it did and otherwise works fine. High load? Maybe I stuffed the throttle before it locked thus, it never did? I have the PID list you published and will check but based on how it has read the first part of the year, I don't believe it to be off. It will "chatter" in the 0-18 range when locked-that said, don't know why idle is so high on slip.... |
Here's a new one from this past weekend towing some steep hills. Since the last dashboard I posted I have updated the PID's from what Tugly has, changed the EBP sensor, replaced the broken factory spider with the AFE version.

EBP < MAP seems strange. Does it always read that way or did you manage to catch a quick transition where there MAP sensor reading is with your foot in the throttle and the EBP is after your foot is out of it?
Same for throttle % and RPM.... |
that is nice.. how big is the screen on the screenshot. My guess it a 9 or 10"er.
do you like the numbers or gauge style read out better.? |

Same for throttle % and RPM.... The tablet is an old 7" android which is mounted to the windshield with a suction cup mount. Due to this, I only use it when towing. I like the current DB as it fits in one screen and gives high low readings for what I consider the most important to know. The numbers give the room for those gauges to be a size medium. The numbers are also good for the quick glance. I use the throttle % and MPH quite a bit. |
