Headlights on, taillights off...

I just bought a new-to-me truck today: 1994 F150 XLT XCSB 351/Auto 4x4, with only 93,000 miles! One of the things the seller mentioned was a quirk with the lighting, he said that in order for all of the lights to work, I would need to pull the switch out, and then push it back in slightly. I bought and installed a new headlight switch, but I'm still having the same problem, only now the headlights and taillights/markers/gauge lights will not light at the same time. The headlights will come on when the switch is all the way out, but everything else will only work if the switch is halfway between the park light and headlight positions. Any thoughts???

If you replaced the switch then i would probably look at the plug on the back of the switch....sometimes the plugs heat up and the terminals get shorted together when the plug housing gets hot.

I'll check it out tomorrow morning. Thanks for the quick reply.

Have you checked the fuses? I had this problem and it turned out that fuse 4 was bad.

Adding relays to the headlight circuit will take a lot of the load off of the switch and keep it from melting.

FIXED IT!!! Merhlin was correct; fuse 4 was blown. Thanks for all the help, guys.
