1989 f150 single cab steering

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's tired of how their steering wheel is placed.

Before anyone mentions bucket seats, I'm working on that when I actually do an overhaul on my interior...
Anyways, I think I read somewhere about "converting" their steering columns to have tilt. I'm not that tall at only 5'11 (just your typical short Mexican here), and with my bench seat all the way back I have little to no room legs and my steering wheel.

So I was wondering if anyone might have any solutions/suggestions for me?

a tilt column swap is very easy to do. disconnect the shift lever, shift indicator, 2 bolts at the steering box, 4 on the dash, and i believe 6 screws on the firewall and it comes rite out.

What trim does yours have, custom, xl, or xlt lariat. For the longest time I didn't know my lariat had tilt because the release is also the turn signal
Lever. Unlike every other truck I've drove where they had separate release and actually looked like a tilt column. My lariat has manual windows and locks so I didn't expect it to.

Easy swap. When my column took a crap it only took me about an hour to swap it with one from the junkyard

^ like he said junk yards the way to go and it's pretty simple

The hard part is finding a decent steering column with good bearings.

Like Ford300Fan said I didn't know mine had a tilt column until I went to replace the turn signal switch and the non tilt switch ddn't fit. My 87 doesn't have tilt and didn't realize the that tilt mechanism was a function of the turn signal stalk.
