'92 F150 4X4 tire size?
I have a '92 Nite (4x4) and am considering getting some bigger tires under it for the upcomeing winter. It's running on 31X10.5 15's right now and stock 15X7 rims. If i step up to a 15X8 rim can i get 32x12R15's under this truck without rubbing? I work for a local tire manufacturer so getting rims and tires in no problem. I just need to figure out what i can use on my stock truck. Deffinately want a wider tire but if i can also pick up an 1" or 2" clearance while i'm at it then i will.
Thanks for the help. 8D Mike http://www.geocities.com/fourby4nite/1.html Buy AMERICAN FORD #1 |

I have a '96 F150 - same body style as yours. I am presently running 32x11.50s on factory 15x7 wheels and they do not rub. In order to go to a 33x12.50, you have to go to a 15x8 wheel and a minimal lift kit (ie. 2"), or trim the front fenders. Hope this helps.

yep, that's what i was looking for, now i can go ahead and get some prices tommorrow at work. I'm all for lifting my truck and going to a 15X8 but the wife is pretty much dead set against it, she struggles as it is getting in and out, which i guess makes sense, she's on the short side and used to getting in and out of her '94 Probe. I figure i should be able to sneak the 32's on without her noticing. :-D

yes the 32s will fit on the stock rims w/o a problem. The only problem is the brakes. My buddy has a 94 bronco with 32 mud terrains and it is alil hard to come to a stop. But you will have no problems with clearance. You don't have to get new rims either. If i am not mistaken, I believe they are 15X7.5 but i could be wrong. Take a wheel off and it should be stamped on the inside of the wheel. But take a rear off to avoid the brake dust mess.

Remember to look at more than just tire size, I have 31x10.50s with a real wide heavy lugged shoulder on a 92 flareside 4wd, and they rub (rumble) at full lock on the radius arms.

If you have the E4OD don't forget to reprogram the speedometer when you change tire sizes. It will make a big difference in shift points.

i have a 94 f150 xlt extended cab 4x2 maroon, it has the factory tires and rims 15 x 7 i think and im debating to either put 32x11.5's or 33x10.5's i dont know which way to approach it shorter and wider or taller and skinnier ( i am going to put bf goodrich all terrains)i want to be taller but i dont want it to look bad, i only have 2 wheel drive so id ont want to go all heavy duty and put new rims, i think the 33x10.5's will fit and im not sure how big of a body lift to get, i need to raise thre front because it looks bad so low, but if anyone has ever seen this truck with either tires tell me which looks better.

Hi,, I"ve got a 92 4x4,, 33x12.5,, I went to 10" rims,, they work perfect with a 2" lift. Don't get the "leveling kit" that advertises 2",, it doesn't.
The stock wheels aren't wide enough for 12.5's. |

I have a friend with a 1990 F-150 4x4 with 33x12.50's on the same rims I have on my F-150. I was thinking they were too wide too, however that must not be the case. '93 F-150 loaded and modified! Check my Gallery |
