I have a 2004 F250 with rust issues. I am considering trading in on a new 2015 before it get real bad. How are the newer ones holding up?

"the" rust issue. I don't believe there is a rust issue. Can you elaborate a bit more on "your" rust issue?

I have a 04 and it is rusting around wheel wells. So probably that is it.

Bed is still steel with bed supports, wells and the works to rust so it will rust. When they switch to an aluminum body, the aluminum will corrode. Winter conditions, road salt, oxygen and time will always win eventually. Ford likes to sandwich foam between steel at the wheel wells which holds moisture and makes rust.

I have a 99 with no rust, probably more of a geographically issue rather than a problem with the truck itself.

Rust states....salt/brine on the roads.:'(

My recently departed 02 had no rust, so yeah, I think it's a regional thing.

My Dad has a 00 Super Duty with literally no rust here in the rust belt and my 06 Super Duty is equally rust free. I have seen a couple super duties that were rusted out over the years and always wondered why, they didn't appear to be used differently than most? Comparing Ford to Dodge for rust my neighbors 06 Ram is Swiss cheese and he drives the same as I do with my 06 Super Duty.

This is definitely a design issue and my biggest complaint with the vehicle.

My 2003 F250 has rust over the wheel wells and along the bottom of the doors. This is in NJ with salty winter roads despite weekly washings to remove/reduce salt.

My truck rusted from the inside-out where multiple layers of steel were sandwiched and not sealed. Ford is using 1970's-era technology.

All of my other vehicles from the past 15 years have had no rust. Ford should address this (if they haven't already).

My 02 is eat up with rust. Pulled what was left of the bed yesterday and the bracket that holds the spare tire was almost gone. The uprights were still OK, but the flanges on the bottom were shot. Will be pulling the cab later in the week. Doors have rust in the bottom. Rocker panels are shot on passenger side, and the brackets under the cab that run from the floor to the side are also completely gone. The stupid idea of putting that foam in the wheel wells accounts for those rusting out. I'm having the new cab, bed, and frame, covered with Chasis Saver. I also have a concrete driveway instead of gravel in which to park my truck. My driveway is shaded by my neighbors bushes, so it doesn't dry very fast after a rain.

My 2011 is starting to show some surface rust under the bed already..

I dare say the issue has not been solved.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have treated the bottom of the cab and bed, along with the frame with some type of rust prevention when I bought my 02 about 8 years ago. I likely wouldn't be replacing the cab and bed now.

we had undercoating and inner panel coating done on our 15

why would a manufacture build a product that would not need replacing?
