Good example of buyer beware. I have occasionally paid more for a "free freight" part off e-bay just for the convenience of not having to run to the parts store.

I too like the free shipping part of eBay but you do have to shop. Sometimes local is cheaper and of course faster.

I KINDA POSTED THIS FOR THE LESS AWARE OF THE ABILITY TO FIND NEW PARTS THAT ARE THE SAME AS ORIGINAL - Sorry about the caps - Anyway I wanted a few more of these intake gaskets to reduce the heat from the manifold - I searched for the FelPro number to check the local availability and all these ebay prices came up - Sure Mr. I'll step up and pay a 1000 % more for rare part - Oh I meant to say Bite My Butt

If I'm not in a hurry, Oreilly's will order for store pickup without charge on stuff like that. They show to have those for $1.99, will ship to the store down the street for pickup next day.

$1.97 at Summit...I order quite a bit from them, they have a West coast distributor/warehouse and I get most of my orders the next day if I get the order placed before noon. The best return policy in the business too.

Keep in mind free shipping isn't free. Someone has to pay for it. Like any cost added, whether it's materials, labor, taxes and fees, it's the end user who typically gets stuck with the bill. Someone has to buy the part, purchase and place it in an envelope or package, get it to the shipper and pay the postage. In the case of eBay, you have to add in their fee, too. It all adds up. At the end of the day, the sellers are small business people trying to put food on their table, just like the rest of us.

I have no problem paying a fare and honest price for a part or service including overhead and burden - A 1000% difference in price for the same thing causes me to think that someone is either greedy or is dishonest and trying to rip me off
I have knowingly paid more for an item on the Web because it was a hard to get item and I needed it ASAP |
