Looking for DNE2 e4od knowledge

Hi guys,
Just thinking "what if" here. I currently have a c6 with a DNE2 overdrive. I know that DN/US gear parts are no longer available. Does anyone know if the DNE2 unit (not the adapter) is the same for a c6 and an e4od? If it is, what would it take to adapt it to mate with an e4od? I am thinking of 2 possibilities.

1. Scour the bone-yards and internet to find the right DNE2 adapter. This way would require less fabrication, but would require getting luck and finding the adapter.

2. Use some kind of an adapter plate in order to use the c6 DNE2 adapter with the e4od. Similar to using an adapter plate to attach a trans to an engine when the pattern is different.

Anyone else thought about or had any experience with this?

Literally, just bolt it up to a 4x4 E4OD... No adapter needed.

So I can run a 4x4 e4od and basically bolt the DNE2 to it where the transfer case would be? Then just get a the correct drive-shaft length and a stand alone trans controller?

If that is correct I definitely like the sound of that.

Then I could run 4.10's or 4.56's to help with acceleration and still have reasonable RPM's at hwy speed....along with a locking torque converter.

Absolutely. The DNE2 input is the same as the BW1356 input.

Hmmmm....now you really have me thinking. Sounds so easy.

I may have to look around for some case dimensions etc. I wouldn't want it to get in the way of a possible turbo for the van.......

I did the math....

I could run 4.56's gears and still end up with 200 lower rpm's on the hwy (65mph) than I have now with my c6/DNE2 combo. With 4.10's I would be 350 rpm's lower.

With the locking torque converter I could get better mpg on the hwy and have way better towing ability........:-jammin

The project just keeps on growing
