460 Choking and Dying

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum. I have a Ford 350 4x4 460 engine. The engine is running really rough. It almost acts like it is running out of gas and then dies. Yes my tank is full with good gas and fuel pressure is good. The engine light comes on then it doesn't want to start. I have had it worked on twice but no one can get it right. Just looking for some ideas, PLEASE!!!

more information.
Whats the year,so we know if its fuel injected or carb?
What did you have worked on twice? what were they supposedly fixing?
If you have an engine light, you probably have codes.
So get the codes, get the codes, get the codes.

1995 I have had the ignition module, engine control module, fuel shut off switch replaced. I have had complete tune up done. Fuel pumps and pressure have been checked they are fine. They have said that there are no codes being read by computer. I'm not for sure whats going on or what to check next. She has almost 200,000 miles on her so could be anythingb ut she ran like mint until she started back firing and dying. I am wondering if timing may be off? Thank you

Make sure you have the correct ICM. What engine control module was replaced? Do you mean the PCM(power train control module).

If it is sputtering and dying, it may have jumped cam timing. How is your compression?

I know the ICM is correct. The ecm they changed was under hood drivers side fender area. It is silver looks like an old washboard. I only know what they tell me. I can only take somewhere to get looked at. I was wondering about the timing though. It also cranks to start slow. Thanks

I was having similar problems on my 1974 460 and it ended up needing the timing adjusted. It took a little patience but is running great now.

A 74 has no EFI electronics to troubleshoot.

Is the check engine light on? Did they check for codes when you had it worked on?

With 200K on it I would cover the basics first. Do a compression test and measure the vacuum at idle, then check the ignition timing at idle.

Is this fuel injected?
