what would you expect to pay for a quality 2 or 3stage paint job?
 

Have a 59 f100 Az truck, stripped to bare metal, acid etched and primed, looking to get painted. Some body work on each door, scuff on one side, deeper on other but easily repairable. Whats a good range for a good quality paint. Not showroom quality.

I would say $5000 - $8000 depending on paint choices.

Most shops that will back there work will strip the truck before painting it, because a paint job is no better than whats under it. Why not paint it yourself?

My three stage paint job was very inexpensive. First I brushed on rustoleum primer for some spots, then rattle canned some off white and then some sort of weird red-brown I found at the dollar store, it took a bit of doing to make it look like I didn't do anything to it. HaHa!

I love to see the real nice fancy paint jobs but just not right for me and the roads I have to drive on.

Too much. I am willing to do a lot of work to save that kind of money. Single stage paint is easy and you can sand it down till it looks good.

I've painted several cars. Single stage is pretty easy as long as it's not metallic, it can be cut and buffed. For metallic colors, it's easier to use base/clear, so it can be cut and buffed. The sanding and buffing can eliminate many flaws.
