Is winter done yet??? Adding remote start
Ok, after 2 nasty winters in a row I'm thinking about remote start! Has anyone tried adding an OEM system to their truck. I found this in accessories on the ford website:
Remote Start System - 100 Series Plug-N-Play | The Official Site for Ford Accessories Any help would be appreciated:) Oh, my truck is 2012 F250 XLT |
I can tell you that I love my remote start. Hot, cold or not...
So much so that I was thinking of adding the cell phone remote start and app. That way when I getting ready to leave the store I can start it from deep inside the store instead of waiting until I hit the parking lot. More of an issue now that I am in the cold, rather than the hot though. |
I added the factory remote start to my 2011 250. I installed the parts myself in about 20 mins. After that I took the truck to my local dealer and had them use their IDS to activate the remote start. Cost $40 for the dealer to activate it.

Check on eBay for the kit. Some come with one key, some with two keys. You can find the IKT's on eBay for like $40-45 each
BC3Z-19G364-A | eBay you may need the hood switch also. that is separate from the remote start kit unless a seller on eBay says included. BC3Z-19G366-A http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...G366-A&_sop=15 |

Thanks fellas for the feedback and info! That's what makes this the best forum out there!
If I had know adding remote start was this easy and affordable I would have done it earlier.:-X19 |
Nice you bring this up. I am working on the same thing after nearly five years.
I purchased the OEM 100 series which came with the antenna and two blank keys. I plugged in the antenna behind the glove box on Saturday. I don't want the app (Microsoft phone anyways) so I didn't need the other modules. I'll ask them to activate the remote start option with IDS when they have it connected for the emissions update plus grind the two keys. Should take no more than half an hour of labor. Activating the new keys is easy from what I'm reading so I plan to do that after they make them. You need both factory keys to program others. The keys are too expensive for me to trust the big box hardware stores when they sometimes can't make simple keys work. I ordered mine from Auto nation at White Bear Lake (used to be Tousley Ford). My f-250 came with it but i bought the factory two way for my F150 work truck, easy plug and play and the dealer activated it for free. The advantage of the two way is that it beeps so I know the truck started, also it has a much better range than my key version on my F-250. It only comes with one fob, no extra keys, but the two way feature and extra range is great.
Just wanted to put it out there, i would thnk it would work for the super duty, both styles worked for the F-150. Leon |
what year is the f1150?...
as long as it doesn't have the cell phone module....and their truck has remote start already......the dealer does not need to activate the 2 way set up |

Fairway Ford has one listed on Ebay, but no part numbers. 11 thru 16 Super Duty Genuine Ford Parts Remote Start Security System Kit | eBay
He says he can put the kit together for about $290 with one 2way key fob. Cell phone add on is $299 |
