94 F150 302 Throttle Cable Removal?
Just got my 94 F150 XL V8 (302). It has an oil leak and needs the lower intake and valve cover gaskets replaced.
Of course I have an issue right at the start with removing the throttle cable from the throttle body. I've searched the forums and have not found a really good explanation of how to disconnect the cable. From what I have read it seems like it should just pull off. However, I have never removed the cable, it doesn't seem to want to just pop off, and am leery of breaking it by prying it off. Even the Chilton manual I have, which shows a picture of my cable, only says "Remove the throttle cable." Anyone have experience removing this cable and mind letting me know the proper way to remove it? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...97f3194099.jpg Throttle cable attached to throttle body from front of motor https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...27b63398cb.jpg Close up of throttle cable connection |
its a ball and socket setup. the end of the throttle cable is stamped with open ends so it acts as a "spring" of sort.
take a flathead screwdriver and pop it right off. |
