55 F600 Route 66 Tow Truck

I was checking things out on the internet and found this:
1955 Ford F600 Tow Truck | Hyman Ltd. Classic Cars

Very cool truck. Way beyond my price range though.

They went to all that work and they didn't repaint the gauge needles. That bugs me. Especially since I just did mine and it's not that hard.

Wow, what a beauty.

There's an old abandoned Whiting Brothers station just west of me (along old 66) here in Albuquerque. Its a bit of a landmark.

Love the Ashton bed, just like one I have for my Power Wagon. Wish I had that boom. Those are the best pics I've seen of a restored Ashton. Stu

Kudos to the the restorers - that is top shelf work.

Isn't the grille a custom piece? Seems out of place on such an otherwise stock truck.

In the back of my mind, I recall seeing Whiting Bros. , but for the life of me I can't remember where. I used to live in Riverside California In the early 70' That may be where I've seen them. Any help here to ease my aging mind.

Nice 55, indeed.

About the instrument needles. Not everybody is as meticulous as us, Joe!

It is a 55 grille, you just can't see it because it is painted black and it blends into the black radiator and air deflectors. All you see at the stainless so called hockey sticks.

Hey BJ, I didn't think about it, but that's in your backyard. You need to head over and check it out.

Not as pretty and wrong year but here is one i would love to have. But the wrecker part is probably the only salvageable part of it.

I'm sure you don't need any help from me to get yourself in trouble. }>
Yep, waiting for the Lotto....It would increase my chances if I bought a ticket, but it doesn't increase the chances enough for me to actually do it.
