Seeking Driveway Mechanic in the Northern Virginia area

Hi everyone, not sure if I'm posting this in the right section, but I need to get my AC Evaporator replaced in my 2008 Ford Explorer. The dealership is quoting about $1700 to get this done, $1300 of which is labor. I used to be part of the Supra community and we had a couple semi-professional mechanics that worked out of their driveways for lower rates and with arguably better work. Do we know of anyone like this in the Northern Virginia area that services this community? Currently located in the Bailey's Crossroads section of Falls Church. Thanks for your help.

If you find anyone let me know... I live in Alexandria. I have a 2001 F250 7.3. I am having wiper problem at the moment. I can fix it myself and can fix most anything I just wish I had some friend with a garage like I had in Michigan! Hah!

You will need someone who can work with the AC. Someone with the tools to empty the freon and re-fill and re-charge the system after the part is changed. I could R&R the parts but do not have the AC gear needed.

PS: I also barter for work I can do carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and most other things including some computer and household stuff.
