Intermittent chirp noise 2006 f250 HELP!!!!!
Hi everyone I'm new to the psn! I have a 2006 f250 lariat 192k no mods except k&n filter everything is stock. I have 2" pro comp level kit and a scan gauge 2 nothing fancy! Well the other day I noticed my truck was chirping like a
Chirp chirp chirp...... Chirp chirp...... Chirp chirp chirp! It goes up and down with the rpm's but it's comes on and off only when the engine is up to running temps the belt does squeak during warm up but I don't think that's it, it's coming from the back of the engine I'm sure of it because I used a paper towel tube and listed right in the turbo hpop area on top of the engine but it's too hard to tell I can't find exactly where it's coming from, some people I've had listen think it's a belt or pulley or tensioner! But I'm not sure if it is because I've sprayed water, and wd40 on the belt and pulleys with no change!!! I'm afraid it's a lifter or something inside the engine yet it's too loud and pronounced to sound like it's coming from the inside! I'm just lost! If anyone has had. Similar issue or some light on the subject it would be greatly appreciated I need all the help I can get. I'm a DIY kinda guy since that's what I can afford I have a newborn now!

Do you have any type of gauges like scan gauge of torque/dashboss apps. To look at live data?

Mikelangevin 01-20-2015 07:28 PM

Thanks for the response and yes I have the scangauge 2 I have downloaded most of the x gauges, none for torque..?

Is your turbo boosting normal/ and any codes

Mikelangevin 01-20-2015 07:48 PM

Just had a p6074 glow plug code for a week then last night I replaced that too see if it would help along with the egr valve I had brand new so I just put it in, the old one was getting pretty nasty. I'm here in MN the weather has been -30 last week and the weak of Christmas I had a false ebp code due to cold which put my boost under code on I think p0299 it was now all is good I have the ebp sensor just incase it comes on again.
But no, boost is good max 25psi if I mash on it. It legs a little from like 40mph and going WOT but that's it everything looks good VGT ipr Ect Eot ICP I have no idea what the noise is, it's so obnoxious and I can't pin point it, I read some other posts about stc fittings rattling the block but it kinda knock/chirps with the rpm's but is intermittent and once past 1100 rpm's you can't hear it unless it's masked by "diesel knock" but like I said in the am when I go to work it doesn't make the noise just the belt chirps faintly until it's warm then you hear the chirp I'm describing so I hope and want to say it's a belt but I have a feeling it's not..:(

Can you make a video of it and upload it to see if anyone else has had the same sound

Mikelangevin 01-20-2015 08:09 PM

Yes I can I just have to let the truck warm up ill post one in like 30 mins, also on another thread over at psn they have a video with the same noise and it ended up being a lifter.
Here's the vid

Did you ever figure out your issue? Lifter(s)? I've got the same chirp, best I can tell mine is coming from passenger front of the engine (new belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, pulled belt all pulleys seem smooth and quiet...no dice).
