Grease gun hose for fuel pressure
 

How many of you guys are using grease gun hoses to relocate the fuel pressure sending unit?? I am wanting to see how many people are actually using them on here. I used some of them and they are leaking at the crimp fitting. Has anyone else been in this situation?? I'm never using them again and are going to keep the driven diesel hose in stock so this never happens again. I'm just looking for some consensus on those hoses.

I think the Hydraulic hose and crimps are stronger and meant for Hydro fluid

I never had and wouldn't. Most off the shelf grease gun whips are a plastic not meant for fuel at all. The diesel will soften it and cause failure. I remember reading that on one of the packages, more than likely at my local Napa. Any hydraulic shop can make you a line to any specified length using a hose constructed of a fuel safe liner with stainless steel braided outer jacket. That's all I would use for fuel around a hot engine.

X2 what 87 said, just have a local hydraulic shop make the hoses for you, then you can have any length you want.

Well ok then,,, this situation is not a happy one btw. I hate to piss anyone off,, but I don't need a solution,,, of course a hydraulic shop can make them. Hell,,,, the freakn Oreillys I had deliver the wrong hoses,,,, could've made me one at their place. This whole situation has me in turmoil. I can just burn in hell for this.

Why use a hose? The isspro sender (same as Edge) fits to the regulator with an adapter and clears the rad hose. The whole vibration issue is moot with all the other senders mounted to the engine with no issues.

I might get flamed for this however I have been running two grease gun hoses interconnected to relocate my sender for about 1.5yrs. Haven't had any issues with leakage. Sure I can get one made, but at the time I looked for an off the shelf option that was available and ran with it.

And if you are going to continue doing this for a living you will again. The key is, don't make this mistake again. You admitted your mistake, nobody died and it sounds like the customer hasn't hired a hitman, yet.:)

Send the new hose with a gift card to use as bribe money for someone to put it on and there will be smiles all around.

A quality grease whip shouldn't be any different than a standard hydraulic hose, just higher PSI, think 5000 psi versus a standard 2500 psi.

I could see a cheapy Harbor Freight or Made in China grease whip kicking the bucket after a while due to diesel saturation.

It's all highly overkill as the fuel system will never generate more than 100-120 psi at most. A braided fuel injection hose would work.

With that said I have used grease whips on other 6.0 trucks, although IIRC my own truck has a gates hydraulic hose to relocate the sender.
