C6 behind a 300/6
I've contemplated putting a c6 in place of my t18 but I keep hearing the horror stories of it really making the 300 feel REALLY sluggish, so I wanted to see if any of you had that set up and what you thought about it?

A stock C6 no, a built C6 with the proper TC and so forth may be ok. Heck a built AOD would be ok as well and you would gain Overdrive.
|
It was just an idea, I've always liked the c6 so I figured I'd ask.. Thankyou!

As a huge 300 six fan I personally would never have an automatic behind one. There is a noticeable amount of parasitic power loss going from a manual to an automatic with these engines. The powerband is so short on these engines (like a diesel), they're all done making power by the time the automatic starts doing anything. You could probably help things out by regearing the axles, not sure if it would be worth the time and money.

I think a well maintained 300 6 could run indefinitely.

I have two 300 six powered F150s with well over 200k on the clock. Those things don't die, one of my favorite engines of all time!
|
I'll chime in and say "DITTO" to everything already mentioned about the 300! You want to have some real fun, drop a ZF behind a 300.
|
I swapped a ZF into my 96 F150 as part of the 4x4 conversion. A ZF/300 combo coupled with 3.55 gears is the perfect combination.
