DC Black Friday "deal"
 

Got an email from DC promoting their Black Friday sales including the window anti-rattler kit for $139.95, "was $200.00". Since this is something I'll need in the spring I thought about taking the deal until I checked their April, 2014 catalog and found it listed for $135.00. Not quite sure how they rationalize this deception.

While on the topic of DC, has anybody bought the new metal rear fenders? I'm curious if they fit as well as the ads suggest.

That's marketing for you. Whenever I go to the grocery store, I always look under the sales tag to see what the original price was. It's not always a good deal. Also, the larger size of a product is all too frequently the more expensive per ounce.

I always grab a non-sale price catalog to take a look at the 'actual' original price, sometimes the new "sale" is more than the original price. I've noticed this a lot in OPGI's sale tactics. The smaller being cheaper per ounce is an interesting marketing tactic. For example, you are looking to buy some shampoo, but you notice the little travel size bottles seem really cheap. Then you calculate it out, and the travel size is cheaper per ounce! The company/store is already halfway to a sale of their product since they got you thinking about it so much. You may not have actually wanted that product, but you're considering it since you found out your little trick to save money.
