2003 Ford Explorer XLT mods

My Explorer has the 4.6 & I. Was wondering if raising it & buiding the motor for offroading made sense, basically is the 4.6 a good motor to build? Is this a pain to raise?

This truck has a IRS (independent rear suspension).. or not a solid rear axle. THe pumpkin is mounted rigid to the frame. The axle halfs have CV joints and flex at both ends. This is a great on road truck and off road for hunting/ camping.. I would not think it could easily be raised and make a rock climber.

Yeah i never really thought rock climber just something to play in & do a few mods to. I didnt know how hard they were to raise. Thanks for the info, I realized the IRS today replacing 2 lug studs. Crazy as it is, you dont even realize the thing is 4x4 til you look under it.
