460 interchangeable heads?

Ive got a neighbour who has a set of e8te-da, date 6e31 heads that are rebuilt with mild porting that he will give me for $100. I was planning on having mine rebuilt when i change cam next month. Since this is such a good deal wondering if i can go for it and what might i be giving up?

my 76 scs 460 has stock (as far as i know) heads with 70k or 170k (not sure which) on them. Where is the casting number so i can find out what i actually have? I hear most of these year models are d3ve's and dont know the difference between them and the e8's

I confirmed mine are d3ve-a2a

No, the 88 EFI heads are different and will not work on your engine.

the 460 EFI heads have E7TE casting numbers...the E8TE is nearly identical to your D3's

They were off his '86, which i only assumed was carbed. I will confirm with him

They were from a carbed engine, my next question is if the valve train is interchangeable. It has new valves and springs, but will my rockers and pushrods still work? Or will i need to purchase new for those heads?
