Marmon-Herrington F-4 School Bus For Sale

I passed this listing around the other M-H guys, and know others will have interest in it too. Maybe not so much in the asking price! This is the only M-H F-4 survivor I've come across, let alone as a school bus. I've also cut/pasted Chuck's email comments about it. I have no connection to the seller. Stu

Thank god it's got a ridiculous price on it, because I would have to own it otherwise!
I got the call from the first guy who found it a couple years ago. He wanted to know what chassis he should mount an old bus on to lower it down and hot rod it. He just called me for general advice. He didn't mention the M-H part until later in the conversation, not knowing that I have an interest in them. Needless to say, I tried pretty hard to convince him to keep it stock. I tried to buy it, but he wasn't ready to sell. I checked back with him a while later, and he had sold it for 7500.00 to somebody that wanted it more than him. I'm sure that's the guy who now wants 20K.

That is so super cool! I would love to have something like that. $20K is crazy though.
I wonder what the top speed is with those 5.38 gears in back?

I would love to see it restored.

I don't know what I'd do with it, but I want it!

I'm glad it's too expensive and far away.

This seems to be a demonstration of the 'Greater Fool' theory of investing. Just because something is rare doesn't mean there is a ready market at any price. Hope that it finds a good home and gets back on the road.

That gear ratio is a typo. Should be 5.83/1. With its 7.00 x 18" tires it's probably good to make 45 mph. Stu

So much for that bull**** my dad told me of walking 5 miles in knee high snow to and from school back in the day! He never said anything about 4wd buses!

That bus is bada$$. But not 20 grand worth. I guess I was lucky, I only had to walk 3 miles to and from school. Uphill both ways though.

I think that could be needed in New York right now.

Try finding all of the period correct seats.

I don't think finding period correct seats would be too hard to find. Bus seats are kind of generic and there are still some really old buses in the country junk yards that still exist. If not it wouldn't be all that hard to fab some. A lot of work but it could be done.

I really would love to have the M-H bus. The bus company my wife works for has a late '40s, early '50s GMC as their mascot vehicle for parades. They were trying to sell it at one time.

If a guy could afford the bus, he could afford to have the seats reproduced. Same issue applies to the Rangers. Mine is missing them. Chuck found a company to reproduce at least one set for him, perhaps others. I hauled them west and delivered them to Mark Mossell a few years ago. Stu
