Extended idling cold weather

Considering buying a 6.7 for my business. I live in Alaska and my 7.3 does a lot of idling. Sometimes I have to sleep in the truck overnight and leave it running for heat.

How well does the new 6.7 handle idling for extended periods of time?

Most people on this board have setup a high idle switch for this very reason. This way you can idle for a long time with out issue.

The same things that you currently do for your 7.3l will be the same on a 6.7l (cold front, battery blankets, etc).

Eventually there may be a point when the truck may need to regen. At this point you can do a stationary regen, or just drive it. If you work the truck enough in the day you may not even need to worry about it.

SEIC (the high idle) will be important. You may also want to invest in a monitoring device like the Edge Insight so you can keep an eye on soot levels.
If you wake up and see soot is near, at or above 2.66, then you'll want to take it for a drive to clean it out.
Only the XL and XLT has an option you can order to do manual regen but the Edge device also provides the feature. Although not sure if this device works on the '15s yet.
I don't know your fuel situation but the short bed only has a 26 gallon tank if that's what you're looking at.

Better delete the DPF and EGR etc if you plan on long periods of idling ... limp mode 3 times before the dealer deleted it all , no issue sense the delete
