1982 Period Correct Badges ??
Does anybody know or have any pics of the proper badges for a 1982 Custom F 150?
I would like to see how big the F150 lettering is below the Custom badge. |

80-81 had the F100/350 lettering/numbering the same size, along with the custom/ranger(xlt)/explorer badges also sharing the same lettering size.
82-86 had a larger F, followed by the 100-350 in a smaller size. Under the numbers (beside the lower part of the big "F") would have been blank (custom) or xl/xlt badges that were rather small. Lariat badges were attached on the "B" pillar, when equipped. |

The Custom trim level was ditched after 1981. 1982 saw the introduction of nothing, XL, and XLT Lariat.
My '87 fender badges say custom below the F-250. Guess Ford reintroduced it with the bricknose body style. |
E0TZ-16720-CA .. Custom Nameplate - 1980/81.
1982/86: No Custom nameplate. E7TZ-16720-J .. Custom Nameplate - 1987/89. |
OK, now I am going to have to go look this truck over again. Where I got the notion this was a custom truck is slipping my mind.
I will report later. |

I will report later. I had a freind that bought some Oldsmobile badges to put on his truck. It was a lowered step side, with a 6" chop top, the rear window was in the shape of a bowtie, and flames over pearl white. The Olds badges read "custom cruiser". I think they were appropriate for the truck...... |

I will report later. Hey, bruno2! I hope the CUSTOM badges are going to work for you. Good meeting you! |
I hope they do too. I need to look at the truck again. I have an early 82 and it has some funny details that are different.
It was great meeting you too Dave! I hope it isn't the last time we see each other. |
The way I read this is what Shaun said - CUSTOM lettering all by itself went away after 81.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...1593d55bc8.jpg That says Type 3, which looks like this: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...c8ab897384.jpg And later there was the Type 22 badge for the 87's: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...de9eddf89c.jpg And, the badge which looked like this: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...b35b822025.jpg Now, I'm not saying that an 82 can't have had 81 badging. I know of people who have things on one year truck that aren't supposed to be there according to the catalog. In fact, I have 1981's with build dates in October and November of 1980 that are supposed to have clear turn signal lenses according to the catalog, but neither does - and I can't imagine that all four of them have been changed. So, I'm not saying your truck couldn't have come with Custom badging. But it wasn't supposed to. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...c3ebe7ff1e.jpg |
