[Request] Pictures of Charcoal/Gunmetal Metallic 9th Gens

Hey guys, looking to repaint my 95 F150 soon after I get some body work done with the bed fenders. I think it would great with a really glossy/metallic dark gray, but I've never been able to find any pictures online of a 9th gen in that color. Will take any and all pics, preferably ones with black trim/bumpers/grille, since thats what I have.

Since they were never offered in that color it is going to be tough. My buddy is redoing hit truck in a GM charcoal gray.

This isn't charcoal or gunmetal gray but about as close as you can get. This truck was stock height and had 32x11.5 tires on 15x10 rims. I see it parked at my kids' school every once in awhile. The owner has kept it in great shape.

That's true, they really should have. As for what exact shade/gloss, I'm not sure yet. The new F150's have a nice charcoal color, and I really liked the color on my friend's Evolution GSR before he sold it.

Wow, that thing is really clean, I'm jealous. PO for my truck didn't take great care of it, so I've been doing little "restorations" on it here and there, its almost where I want it though. Just bodywork and paint is left.

After I'm finished fixing up my truck, I plan to paint it Sterling Grey Metallic from the 2009-2014 models. It's a really nice color and I think it'll look great on my '92!! It's also one of only a few colors that'll go with my red interior. I have seen a couple grey OBS F150's, but none that are close to what I'm planning to do. I just wish I could do it soon, but money won't allow yet unfortunately.

I am thinking about doing a darker gun metal color, or a dark brackish color as well. I used photoshop to try and adjust the color on that silver f150 to get an idea. I really like that silver as well, would like to try that with a little pearl added. But I think this with some pearlescent added would be awesome.

Damn I think that just solidified my choice, nice 'shop. Pearl would be a nice touch, something like this R8 (drool):

Gotta love that porno red, if it wasn't so expensive and time consuming I'd replace it with the Lightning's or Eddie Bauer's interior. Sterling was one of my main considerations.

Yes like that R8. Then balance with just the right amount of black and chrome accents. Black wheels for sure.

The only chrome I have left on mine is the tailgate latch, the door handles, and the wheels. The bumpers, grille, window trim, etc is all black. I think gray would look good with that set of trim. What were your thoughts?

Ford offered a darker gray in the late 80's on F-series. My boss hated 'em… use to call 'em "no sale gray"….

Close…

Yeah. For what ever reason the silver and gray from the 80s pealed real bad

Ford had a paint recall in the early 90's for peeling paint… didn't have any UV protector in the paint. It affected silver, grey, black and blue the most but some other colors had problems, too.

GM and Mopar also had trouble with the same deal but Ford got a lot more bad press about it. I don't think the other manufacturers did a recall like Ford did.

We must have repainted 50-60 trucks over two years. They had to be stripped to bare metal. Our body shop couldn't keep up with the work load so they farmed out a lot of the work. I finally opened my big mouth and told my boss he could save two days of sanding by having the local media blast outfit remove the paint… cost us $400.00 and Ford paid $800.00. It was a no-brainer but the BS manage was pisssed at me for causing him to lose all that prep work….
