License Plate restoration
has anyone ever used Darryl's License Plate restoration before?
I bought a pair of vintage '56 Texas plates to have restored for my '56 and he charges $155 for a pair of plates. He has a few photos but I was wondering if anyone had theirs restored by him if they could post some photos of theirs or give some feed back on the durability. I hate to spend $155 to have these restored and they look like they do now after a few years. |
I know in NY, vintage plates can not be used if they have been "restored". They must be original.

I have a pair and I think what I will end up doing is issue them to the car first then have them restored. Im sure I will be driving the car before it is finished if everything works out like I hope. I am getting closer and closer to starting the motor via the starter, waiting on the 29N battery that I ordered its a Duracell and its only rated at I think the guy said like 400 cold cranking amps which I hope is enough, I got the carb kit in today at lunch will rebuild that at work next week, I got a used dual action fuel pump in a couple days ago on thursday which I dont know when the rebuild kit for that will come in I ordered that today. All thats left to do though is order six quarts of Castrol 20w50 classic car formula oil, a bottle of redline lead subsitute. Just slow going but I guess its better to take time than to rush and do more damage than need be. |
