97 F250 HD 460 Suspension

Im needing to replace my balljoints, tierod ends, and bushings. ( of course)

however when looking for kits on ebay i see some of them have an idler arm..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Ball-Joint-4-Tie-Rod-2-Sleeves-1-Idler-Ford-F-250-1997-2WD-HD-Over-4200lb-/121238821776?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1997%7CModel%3AF-250&hash=item1c3a659b90&vxp=mtr
I dont recall seeing one under there when i had it on the lift..

Is it there and i missed it? or do i need to get a different "Kit"

Im new to the full size game.. ask me questions about jeeps!

Thanks in advance!

That is likely a generic photo, not the actual stuff you would get.

eakermeld 08-24-2014 03:13 PM

That also is a very cheap price. Most likely it is also a very cheap product. Read there description again and you will see. Source some good Moog locally and you won't be disappointed. Heck, even local parts store brand is not all that bad. At least if something goes wrong, you have a person to take it back to!

I wouldn't go with moog anymore bought new spring busings for my truck from them said mexico on the part and within 2 weeks you could see that the bushing was starting to deform :(

mtbrgeek 08-24-2014 03:24 PM

ya moog on my jeep lasted less than a year, shame they used to be the best..

Question stands... Idler arm?

joshh 08-24-2014 03:30 PM

no we dont have idler arms on these trucks and like eakermeld said most likely a generic photo

mtbrgeek 08-24-2014 03:35 PM

ok cool, thats waht i thought but making sure. The kit describes it being included. and the guy at the oreilleys wanted to sell me upper and lower control arms ( y shaped) so, even though i pointed to my gen 9 he clearly didnt understand why i didnt want to buy them. Hence my move to searching ebay for kits.

thanks for the info and clarification

ive learned that most of the time its just easier to ask for 96 model parts or f350 parts if its not pertaining to front suspension

Ill remember this. thanks

I don't trust that price either. The ball joints for one side alone will cost about that price.

mtbrgeek 08-24-2014 04:20 PM

ya ive since started pricing out parts from rock auto. Ebay makes me nervous. But those kit listings help tell me what all i need to replace. Looks like im going to run about 200ish bucks

Like stated earlier. Look up 92-96 F250. Too many place look up the Light duty F250 stuff when you say 97.

Look at XRF. Lightyears better then the crap Moog is selling these days(uses the same part number as moog)

I do the same thing, every parts store I go to I tell them it's a 96 F250. I've never gotten the wrong part yet......

eakermeld 08-24-2014 08:49 PM

Made in Mexico?!?! Well fooey. I guess it's better than China, though.

I just say 96 now as well after getting the wrong outer tie rod and other parts.
