Turbo and tow haul?

I always new that tow haul changed the transmission strategy, but I read an old thread that seemed to indicate that our turbos are exercised to restrict exhaust as part of the braking system while in tow haul. The reason I started the search was something I saw in my SCT tuner where it offered the option to turn on engine braking, so I searched 6.0 forum to find more info...

In trying to find if I could use this engine brake option with the 6.0, I read a thread seeming to indicate that our trucks already do turbo engine braking. As I now understand it, the turbo vanes are triggered to close down to restrict exhaust, in conjunction with transmission strategy to assist in braking vehicle speed on down grades.

I know that these trucks need to be worked to stay happy, so am I correct in understanding that towing and using tow haul is good for the turbo (partly) for the reasons stated above? The info I researched and read was a bit vague so I'm just trying to clarify in my mind how the tow haul works while in tow haul and its relation to turbo longevity.

I even use tow/haul to slow me down whether I have the RV on or not! Saves on the brake pads/rotors too as well as excerising the turbo vanes.

That verifies my thoughts. Thank you for the reply.
