Tank pic request

I am considering injecting my 400 in my 81. I talked to the company I'm looking to procure the EFI kit from about fuel supply. We agreed it would be best to swap in some later model tanks with electric fuel pumps. My question is more of a request. Does anyone have any good shots of the fuel pump setup on the injected gas trucks? I want to know where the pump is and how hard it would be to change out. I also want to keep the dual tanks.

Thanks in advance

Here's some pics from SuperMotors website. He lifted his bed and replaced the tanks/FDM's. The pics of the FDMs and tanks are about halfway down:

That helps. It looks like the pump is accessed through the top and completely submerged. Am I looking at that wrong or not?

Nope, you are not looking at it wrong. The FDM is the "Fuel Delivery Module" and consists of the pump and the sending unit. It hangs inside the tank. Here are a few pages from my 96 service manual that might help:

What kind of flow are these FDM's rated for in, say, a 460?

You can use an aftermarket external pump...

Agreed. Keep It Simple Stupid

I just noticed you have an '81. didn't realize it was that much older than my '96. What year did they switch from external pumps to internal pumps?

Fuel injected engines got internals. The bullnose crowd said Ford used both on the mid-80's trucks. A low pressure in tank and a booster pump after the selector.

Edit: the company that makes the EFI kit I am looking at advises against the external pump because of how the carb tanks are designed. They draw from the top, and inter a pumps push from the bottom of the tanks.

I just dropped my efi tank today. If you need more pics or one of a certain angle let me know while I still have it pulled
