Under bed gas tanks
Before anyone says try the search,I did,I put in, fuel tanks, gas tanks, and after market gas tanks. Then everything and it's dog comes up,but no info on the subject. I'll be re-doing my bed in the coming months,so I was thinking while I was doing this,I might as well install a new under the bed gas tank. Now my rear end has been cut out and a 4 link installed, limiting mounting area. I was looking at a '67-'70 mustang 20-22 gallon tank, saw one from Kentucky Mustang with sending unit for $159. Is this a good unit and price,or is there a better way. Thanks Axe before hand and everyone else. L8R ZFLASH

Depends what you want. I wanted a side fill gas door on the fender so I used a 22 gallon chevy van tank. My luck with a gas fill door in the bed floor the day I need gas will be when there is a ton of stuff in the back.

I still haven't done this yet but I am leaning toward this tank. It should fit between the cross members so they don't have to be moved.

I put a saddle tank out of the same era panel truck, using thestock mounting brackets and straps. I relocated it slightly aft and I modifiedit to suit filling from the stock location on a pick-up (passenger side), Ialso modified it to accept my Dodge Dakota electric fuel pump and pressureregulator. So far everything seems to be working fine, and it leaves room forthe spare tire at the back, and a motorcycle in the box. |
Mine is a panel, so I can't help much.

It depends on if you're carbing or injecting.

Thanks to all who have responded, carbed for now, injected later. I'm re-doing my tubbed bed soon, that's reason I'm looking. My thinking is to have installed since the bed will be out, just don't hook it up until I do the LS conversion. So maybe buy for it to be used with fuel injection, thanks. L8R ZFLASH

I am wondering if a guy could run a fuel filler out the left side of the frame with the 22 gallon Mustang tank and place a door on the rear of the fender.
