1997 f250 ccsb 4x4 issue
I recently bought a 250 and I went to try the 4x4, and one its hard to get it to engage, and if I can get it to engage I can go about 50 yards before it makes a clank noise and the 4x4 disengages. The only way I was able to keep the 4x4 working was if I held the shifter in place. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

Welcome to FTE!
Sounds to me like your linkage is binding up and not letting it engage as far as it should. I would get underneath the truck and spray all that linkage down real good with some penetrating oil and try and free it up. Don't pull to hard, the linkages are known to break if forced. EDIT: Do you have manual or automatic hubs? |
When it disengages, does the t-case shifter actually move? Does it go back to 2HI, or to neutral?
Have you tried 4LO? |
I can't get it even get it to 4lo but I have manul hubs, and yes it moves forward
