anyone know what kind of TPS this is
its a 2007 4.6, every auto parts store i go to want to give me the same thing that looks like its a part of it but the mounting is completely different. the connector is the same but that's about it.
any help would be appreciated. thanks https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...cc11a9487e.jpg |
2007 should be a drive by wire, and that would be the throttle actuator. If I remember the TPS is on the throttle inside the cab. You have three redundant sensors in that unit which is called and Electronic Throttle Control module (ETC). What makes you want to replace it?

do you think it may be something else. thanks mike |
On your truck, the TPS is inside on the throttle pedal, yes they do go bad, there is a re-calibration procedure for them, I don't have it where I can look at right now as I am about 150 miles from home. Your TPS tells the EEC what throttle you have applied, and the EEC commands the ETC to open the throttle.
If you have an analog multimeter, unplug the TPS and check the resistance, from one set of connections it will always read the same no matter what you do with the pedal. From one of those to the third (and you may have two or more sets) it will vary as you move the pedal. It should be smooth, not jump or show an open circuit. If it is erratic, it's bad. |
