Looks like I see 51-52 fender molds

EffieTrucker 08-14-2014 07:55 PM

Well, I guess that answers the question "Wonder what they did with all the molds?"

bigwin56f100 08-15-2014 06:31 AM

I think its a deal, the hard part is already done ( finding good-nos sheetmetal to make perfect molds)

jimcar-9 08-15-2014 06:51 AM

Nice.......but still.......its fiberglass :-X15:-X15:-X15

ALBUQ F-1 08-15-2014 10:28 AM

I'd bet those were Fairlane's molds.

truckeemtnfords 08-15-2014 12:09 PM

Ross,
Surprised you didn't catch that it is the retired owner of Fairlane selling them and you get to use the Fairlane name to boot. The last picture shows a car at a booth with the Fairlane sign in front of it.

No, I didn't read that far! Saw the price and location, I'm on a netbook with small screen. Fairlane used to be one of the premium players in the 'glass field, I was surprised they went under (the seller is probably the third owner since original bankrupcy).

I would have thought the guys at Terry's would have already bought the molds. Wonder what they're using??

Fiberglass doesn't rust. Just sayin...}>

51PanelMan 08-15-2014 11:09 PM

If I had $29k and someone who's knowledgable with fiberglass, I'd buy the molds.

GB SISSON 08-16-2014 12:30 AM

I'm with Topmoo. I was thinking the exact same thing. Like it's any worse than 12 volts or electronic ignition on an 8ba, or heaven forbid, a mustang two or crown vic front clip with disc brakes.....Last summer I went out on a friend's fiberglass sailboat. A 30' Pearson and it was 50 years old, sitting in salt water the whole time with only occasional maintenance. Structurally like new.

Well in boats you have the gealcoat on the outside, try putting saltwater in the inside for 50 years, like you have on glasfiber car bodies, like old corvettes. As much work or more to correct as steel.

I belive its most a matter of feeling, glassfibers are for boats and cars are made of steel......

Just my opinion

Me too, the only problem I see is the fact that now there is steel repro parts avail,

Back in the day this stuff was hot because that's all there was to replace rusty fenders.

If I win the lottery I'm going to have a fiberglass company
