Front spring replacement

I'm planning on replacing my front springs and shocks very soon. I've never done this before. Is there anything I should look out for/be aware of before I do this?

Not sure where you're planning on getting your Springs but hopefully they will come with the bushings installed. You'll need new shackle bolts. Make sure they fit the bushings before trying to install the springs. Sometimes you may have to have the bushings reamed to fit the bolts. Also check the hanger bars for wear. 1953-56 Ford F-100 Spring Hanger Bar, Front Outie Notch, Replacement

You'll also want to pick up new U Bolts, nuts and a few straight axle alignment shims. Don't forget to get the ole Iffy realigned after you complete the Job.

Shocks are pretty straight forward UNLESS you're using dropped springs. If your dropping the front end you'll need to get shocks that match the drop or reposition the shock mounts to compensate for the drop.

Not knowing what your experience is, be sure to use jack stands under the frame. Make certain the jack stands are on a solid surface. If the truck were to fall, it could make for a bad day.

Thanks. I bought the springs from macs, and they should be here today. Unfortunately the bushings and pins are on backorder.

I'm going stock ride height, so I should be fine on the shocks.
