1964 N600 stake bed?

What were the available sizes and were they Ford Script? The one on the truck now is an add on along with the lift cylinder. I am thinking of selling the bed and finding the correct one. Thanks .....Jon

Jon,

Again relying on my various Ford brochures, the only Ford oem stake beds / flat beds (removable stake sides) that I see noted as options were for the 500 series (F&N) and the 550 series (C)

They, at least in the brochures were 12'

I have noted some Ford flatbeds / stake beds had the Ford script centered on the rear of the flatbed part.

Again, I have nothing that is black and white on this, just something that I noted in the brochures.

I did just pick up another brochure that is not the normal slick paper consumer type, so as soon as I get it I will see what it might add as it covers the N series quite a bit. I do have a 1973 C series non slick paper brochure that even details the metal thickness in the various parts of the truck, right down to the dash sheet metal. Those are really hard to find, and give yet another measure of what Ford was thinking all those years ago.

I have posted some of the scanned brochures and some other stuff on FTE, you can also go to Photobucket and look at them, same user name - dmanlyr as FTE, if you want. In fact dmanlyr is my user name everywhere, other forums, ebay, etc.

Not too much directly on the N series as I am a C series guy mostly, (I had a T series for a bit)although the newest one I just found and bought covers the N series. Can't say that I have not looked at getting a N series, Mack made a N series, that used the same Budd cab as the Ford C series :)

And if I ever ran into a Ford N series that was nice, I probably would buy it in a minute as well, although hard to find with what I want, Transmatic, air brakes and little to no rust.

Thru 1956, factory installed Platform (flat bed) and Platform & Rack (stake bed) have a Ford script. Beginning in 1957, these beds have F O R D block letters.

Black & White :-X04 pics from 1953/56 & 1957/63. Notice reference to N series, which was introduced in 1963.

Inre to the OP's query about a stripped chassis mentioned in his other thread. AFAIK, no N series was available with such, which is a rolling chassis without a body.

Cool pics and info Thank You. I will have to keep an eye out for beds at auctions, you find them on hay racks frequently. I do remember the block letter beds now that you mentioned it. Probably real hard to find though, I haven't seen one in a long time.

I have a bed the next series earlier, is it the same with the exception of the Ford lettering? If so I could duplicate the bed and have a reproduction one. And have the letters CNC machined out.
