What other projects keep you busy besides your truck?
Hey guys! Been a while since I posted around here. Still driving the ol 53 daily.
My wife's cousin gave us a hot tub back in Feb. Got it installed and then had to spend most of my summer working on a deck to surround it. Believe me, this has been the most expensive gift I have ever gotten. Here's a few pics of what I have done so far, just a little wiring needed to finish up. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/Br...w368-h207-p-nohttps://lh6.googleusercontent.com/WR...w368-h207-p-nohttps://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-k..._201126628.jpg |
All of them! Never a dull moment. Lapidary, faceting, silversmith, wood work, blacksmith, electronics - yes, vacuum tubes too!
Oh, and there's the day job. Dylan's learning flint knapping. |
Wow! Now that's a nice deck.
Me, well with job and kids activities, I'm lucky to barely work on the truck. I need to build a new deck one of these days soon.... |
Pontiacs, International Harvesters, Dodges, etc... and my garage.
Work has been hectic this year... make hay while the sunshines, so they say. Nice deck! |

Wife i Divorced her - No payouts except for my Lawyer

That's project enough Dick..... My divorce cost me lawyers fees and half of what I'd worked for all my life. Reminded me of this.... " Did you hear about the new 'Divorced Barbie'? She comes with all of Ken's **** " I have been involved in one cylinder farm engines, sometimes known as hit and miss engines. This lead to many other types of antique engines like this outboard motor that clamps onto the transom and turns it into an air boat. Built in 1920, presumably before they had lawyers. The big one someone gave me and I made the cylinder head. It's 8 hp weighs 2250 lbs was built in 1912. 6" bore, 12" stroke. I run it at about 75 rpms. Just got back last night from 4 days at a show I have not missed in 27 years.

A 1982 Honda CBX . 100 hp at 10.000 rpm . I have replaced brakes , tires , chain and rear sprocket , Corbin seat , and saddle bags . Also have the stock fairing to go on . I started riding 42 years ago and have owned all kinds and styles of bikes . This six cylinder beast is by far the most fun of them all . It is also rare and odd ball . That's what I like things that are different . First gear at about 7500 Rpms will hit 60 mph . I can't imagine 5th at 10.000 rpm . I will never see it .

Hockey & Baseball for the kid's. It never seems to stop. Hockey ends, and a week later Baseball starts. Baseball ends and not even a month later they're hitting the ice again. Not a lot of time or money left over for truck stuff. Slowly but Shirley, it's moving ahead.:-X22

Eight yrs ago I bought this 74 BMW 2002 and rebuilt/upgraded everything on it but the gearbox (I'm switching to a 5 spd soon). Spent the last 4 years learning and doing the bodywork at my local comm college. Painted it last semester...almost finished. Before & after:

Well, aside from trying to get Edith finished, and the continuing health problems, we just had 5 of Patti's 6 grandkids here for 2 weeks. Of course that was bookended by ole grandpa here do two 1180 mile weekends picking them up and returning them. This week we have been relaxing by cleaning out the barn. Every year here they have the The 127 Sale-The World's Longest Yard Sale which Patti has been doing since they started. I have avoided the sale since I have been here, but since I finished the bed on Edith I have not really done any wood work, so all of my wood working equipment was loaded up on the 18' trailer and is headed for the sale.

Retired and not sure how I got the things I needed done when I worked because I don't have enough time to do what needs to be done each day now. Wanted to travel more after retirement, but now we don't have the money to do much traveling.
Wife and I love working at a local Faith in Action Food Pantry providing food to families in need. Lots of hard time out there for people. Bruce |
I play the drums. Ive been helping my high school drumline aswell. I also am going to school full time.

I call it work but I enjoy it too much to be stressed out by it. Here is some of what I have been doing the last few months. Right now working and a 15K sq ft home that I will be on until spring - a huge amount of very cool cherry cabinets all with inset door with a bead around each and every opening. Lots of arches. So far I have used 70 sheets of domestic cherry plywood and 500 bd ft of solid cherry. Well over a thousand feet of 1/4" x 3/4" cherry bead that I made. Keeping me busy. :-drink
First pic is a high rise panel job that I did with cherry and maple panels throughout. Second pic is the 15K sq ft house, third and fourth are some of the cabinets in it. Last pic is a 4' x 8' vanity that I did for a restaurant in their unisex bathroom :-hair |

Some very talented guys on this site . Jeff's deck would be a great place for a truckstock get together .

This is my main project for this year - It's a new NOT BIG ENOUGH garage - I moved the original garage back 36 ft and built an interconnected 28x35'9" garage with 10' walls in front of it - The 35'9" was to make it under a 1000 square ft so I didn't need a building permit - The Township was upset with me that I didn't register the original garage when it was built in 1954 - I told them that I was a six year old rebel at the time
Here is a link to some pictures Garage Photos by smedly_dunlap | Photobucket |

Besides? In my case, instead of, may be more appropriate. I have acreage that requires mowing and brush cutting, an in ground pool, a deck that I have"redone" but needs replacing And as others have said my real job. I also have a 66 Mustang 2+2 that I haven’t worked on in 20 years that's"almost done".
I swear, by the time the snow flies, I WILL have my truck roadworthy again, and maybe the interior work completed. It won't be pretty but it should befunctional.<o:p></o I am always amazed (but really shouldn't be) at the talent of everyone on this site, both automotive and otherwise (speaking of decks & impressive guitars).<o:p></o |
Here was my project for the day.
