Need carrier bearing part #
I had a family friend replace my carrier bearing 3 years ago. I'm getting lots of bouncing taking off from stoplights and on corners. I looked at my carrier bearing and the rubber around it is chewed up and I can move the driveline up and down within it.
Just wondering if anybody has the part number for the carrier bearing. I went to napa but the one they had was too small. When are family-friendly replace that he said that the one they had was too small. But he eventually found the right one at napa. I have 2 part numbers but they're both the wrong one. Too small. Part number Hb88107a Hb 88508A These aren't right |
according to the napa online, the 2 numbers you mention are supposed to be 2 different sizes. one is 1.378 bearing inside diameter, the other is 1.57 bearing inside diameter.

It appears that there's a part number stamped on top of the bearing. So I guess I'll have to pull mine off and look for a part number. Let you guys know what I find ASAP

Thats interesting. HB88508A should be the right one. The spicer number is 210873-1x.

I found it finally after 4 parts stores 3 mechanics and realizing there was a part number on the dang thing. It was 6038 at oreilly.
Napa looked up 4 different bearings and I had mine with me and none were right. Anyway basically the mounting bracket and rubber are much bigger and better I think. Does anyone know the ford part number for carrier bearing shims ? I had them in my favorites and can't seem to find them anymore. |

And I got it free. Lifetime warranty !

Flat washers make good shims.

Is it true that the general rule is 1/4" for every 1" of lift is needed to shim ? So my truck is lifted 3 " so I'll need 3/4"a worth ? Is that true?
