Biodiesel

So I am a big supporter of Biodiesel. I have been running it for years at a range of B-20 to B-50 in my 6.4 and also in my 6.0. I have recently started running B-99 for the last 4-5 tanks and I must say the truck loves it, its quieter, smoother and the mileage ( hand calc'd) is about .4 mpg better! I have access to a supplier that is very well known and has 2 pumps for Bio, B-20 and B-99. The current price average is about 3.75 for pump diesel here in southern MA, I buy my Bio at T.H Malloy in Cumberland RI and their price for B-20 is 3.74 and B-99 is 3.64.

Just be sure you change your oil and filters on time.

You're deleted right?

Yea i honestly would not run bio in an emissions 6.4. The flash temp for the bio is higher then diesel and therefore the bio does not completely vaporizes during the regen exhaust stroke injection. This means more fuel is staying in liquid form which then washes down the cylinder walls and goes into the oil. Now with that said, if you are dpf deleted that eliminates the exhaust stroke injection and negates the problems with bio. So if you live in an area that does not emissions test i would suggest investing in deleting the dpf and then run as much bio as you want. If you still have the dpf then i would limit the amount of bio to 5 or 10% and change the oil and fuel filters religiously. The 6.0 will do fine with bio just keep up with the fuel filters. There use to be a very extensive article on a major biodiesel website but it magically disappeared and is no where to be found...
