Turbo surging in 4th gear only

When I am driving down the highway my turbo will surge. I can watch it on the gauge going from 25 down to 20 and right back up it will do this until I let off or change gears.

Is this normal for a stick shift?

Changed the fuel filters and nothing changed. Thanks.

Sounds as if the vgt and or turbo needs cleaned.

Can you monitor VGT , MAP, EBP ? do have EGR or delete

cheezit 07-30-2014 09:35 PM

Unplug ebp. Does it still happen? If so suspect bad vgt sensor. Swap in kowen good one to test.

Stiction only (mostly) happens when the engine is cold.
Once you have warmed up it goes away. It's more like
a miss or ruff idle.

Would there be something electronic causing this?

I tried it again on the highway last night, all gears pull perfectly besides 4th...

If I have to pull the turbo I will, but id prefer not to!

I will pull the EBP sensor today before I head home and see what happens

Go with with what Cheezit said.
