No Radio Balance [SOLVED]
This is more to tell everyone what a potential issue is with installing a after market deck
So I just got a 1990 F-250 the deck in it was dead but had a proper wiring harness adapter so I went out bought a new deck and speakers but after the install I had no balance control and the back of the new deck seemed to be getting warmer than id expect(almost to hot to touch) also there was a fair bit of popping from the new speakers. Turns out the ground wires for the speakers are backwards so I had to connect the Left Front Speaker Negative(white/black) from radio to the Grey/Black of the adapter and the Right Front Speaker Negative(grey/black) to the white/black of the adapter. Since my truck doesn't have rear speakers I didn't cross those grounds but Id imagine you would need to if you had rear speakers but check if there is an issue balancing them left/right first. When I searched this issue online I read about 20 threads that the end result was to just install new speaker wiring turns out this isn't needed! |
Typically, you'd want to install new wires if you were going to a higher wattage system, if powering the speakers directly from the receiver, your existing wires are fine, as long as they are in good shape.
