Buckstop bumper help with colors
So after doing a lot of research, going over and over in my head why i need these bumpers do i need a winch when i dont "off road" my truck? I found fellow member housedad thread in the excursion section of his install and you know what Flip on it! Im gonna order front, rear and a Warn 16k winch and put on my truck, ONLY problem i can not for the life of me get ahold of someone from Buckstop? I called Friday at 2pm when i left work their phone rang and the answer machine picked up and said they cant reach the phone leave name and number so i did...... Monday 4pm i call again and same thing "we cannot reach phone...." so i hung up. I called yesterday a 1pm same thing, now i just called about four minutes ago and the SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!! Ive read where Buckstop had AMAZING customer service well so far in my expirence they are flunking horribly

ok i just got a call from buckstop, and yes its expensive but i think im just gonna do it! So what would yous do i live in NJ where they salt for rain now, and if it does snow instead of actually plowing snow off the roads they put inches of salt....... I can get the classic front bumper rear bumper and warn 16.5 winch shipped to NJ for $4200 that's powder coated in black or grey BUT i like my truck with chrome and aluminum wheels so i asked for the stainless grill guard at a cool $200 EXTRA ( im ok with that) so thats $4400. But buckstop seriously suggested i get them shipped bare steel (its acid washed though) for $250 savings and have the bumpers rhino or lineX for whatever my local spray shops want ( i didnt call around yet). I asked about aluminum bumper and they want 750 extra for front and 500 extra rear so sorry but no way and theres only 60lb difference so.......
SO help me pick go black powder coat with stainless grill guard or get bare and have them lineX or rhino lined? Or just take the chance and see how well Buckstop powdercoat holds up to salt and the fact that i clean my truck like crazy.......... |
heres my truck, picture taken yesterday.....

im thinking the steel grey powder coat would look more like chrome...... black just really isnt my thing
this is a steel grey buckstop i want on a black 2001, closest thing to green i can find, but remember the grill guard is polished stainless steel im paying extra for http://i61.tinypic.com/bhx7w4.jpg |

I would find a local place to powder coat or paint it. It will get scratched in shipping.

I really like the stainless brush guard.
If you don't mind the opinion, I really like the look of the Outback model a little better (maybe not enough to justify the cost). I think it would look awesome with the stainless brush guard. Maybe add some smoked LED makers lights to the base of the bumper too. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...4f34b78064.jpg I think you'd be way better off with Line-X or Rhino Liner or doing something like chassis saver and Monstaliner yourself (Monstaliner offers an array of colors). This color may even match you truck: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...0e6d312085.jpg I have had nothing but ****ty experiences with powder coat. It doesn't last one winter in PA. |
Line x can do colours too, maybe they could do that steel grey...?

Im in the same boat, I would like to replace my rear bumper with a Buck Stop but with the black and chrome thing I have going on Im not so sure how a grey or black bumper would look on my truck, and Im not a huge fan of LineX stuff on exterior like pain or bumpers. The only way I feel that looks good is on an XL truck with no chrome at all.

Yea im totally lost, would love their aluminum version but at $750 extra it ain't gonna happen and for a 60 lb difference its still not a I gotta have it. Tomorrow ill see what color linX and rhino can spray if they can match my truck im gonna go with that. Im not gonna spend all this money and not matter what I try its still gonna rust from all the flippin salt they put down so getting it sprayed to protect my investment seems like the only senseable thing to do?

I would line-x it black for my truck, but I would line-x it even if you use a color as it would give it the best protection from all that salt. I've also never had good luck with powder coat either.

Another and even more $ option is to have the bumpers and your rockers line x in tan/adobe or gray so you have two tone all the way around like a king ranch with fancy bumpers.

Well I got a price today from a lineX dealer 650 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sent six photos of the bumper inside and out and the guy said it will use more liner than a 8ft full size truck bed...... I think he figured if I can pay over a grand for a bumper I could pay $650 to have it lined? So unless the second lineX dealer further away from me gives a more logical price im just getting it grey powder coated directly from buckstop..... it sucks but what else can I do.
