Leak
 

Hi all, I have a leak from a unknown location. The ground is moist under the back of the engine where it meets the transmission. It leaks after being driven and when I'm driving it smells like fresh diesel in the cab, I feel like I'm tasting it on my tongue.

-On a side note, I picked up a Innova scanner for OBD 1 & 2 vehicles. If anyone wants something scanned I can do it for them if they dont mind driving into DC

The rear of the block area has a drain hole in the valley and the location you reference is a catch all point for valley leaks. Have you looked in the valley to see what is wet?

Check the valley of your engine, especially around the fuel pump. The fuel pump can begin leaking from the weep hole. Ask me how I know. :-innocent The symptoms you're describing sounds like a leaking fuel pump to me. I'll be replacing my fuel pump this month. Check the valley. Look for leaks from the fuel filter bowl, the hoses, and the fuel pump. I'm betting you'll find the leak somewhere in that area.

Is this leak alot or only a few drips

Other posters say fuel pump which is also sometimes it can also look at fuel return lines also
You have to look from top while running to see where it is i would powerwash engine then i know it is clean so i could track it

That scanner will probably not communicate with your truck, or anyone else's on this section of the forum.

Don't powerwash the engine. There are way too many sensors and wires. You can cover some wires, use simple green or the like, and wash it off with water carefully.
