Would you do it?

So here it goes I was wondering if anyone has seen a 73-79 with a blown lightning or harley davidson 5.4?

Jaydoubleyou 07-13-2014 03:07 PM

There's a few videos on you tube of a red dent with a lighting motor. I love the mod motors, from the 4.6 to the 6.8. And I doubt it would be a really difficult swap. I was actually considering using a 5.4 or maybe even a 6.8 but I ended up committing sacrilege and using a 5.7 Hemi.

But I'd love to see more Mod motor swaps.

After I finish my son's truck my wife wants me to restore a falcon for her and then my next project is going to be a 48-56 truck with a 5.4. I haven't seen any mod motors in this body style, but it sounds like a fun project.

Dare to be different... how about a mid-90s Jaguar XJ12? Swap in the V12 and the donor's IFS and IRS.

Is that place up in Redding,Ca still swapping Chevy 350's into Jags, that might be a source for the engines. If I remember correctly, it was a simple swap because Jag used either Turbo 350's or 400's as their automatic. This was in the 80's when I was at Beale AFB

The ultimate, a vintage 427 SOHC.

Wealthy folks maintain their cars so obtain a complete running donor:

Read this article where the author swapped a 79-86 XJ6 IFS into a slick F100. It's the same in principle as a Crown Vic subframe swap... but more exotic. : TECH WEEK Jag XJ6 IFS into F100 | The H.A.M.B.

Score the IRS out of a 1975-87 XJ6 or XJ12 (Series III): ....

I'm to the point of being OCD with mashups... Someday I wanna put an SBF and T5z into a Volvo 142 or 144.... a sick brick! It's gotta be 75 or older though due to CA's emissions laws. Older than that and it's fair game.
