Highboy manual steering
 

I have been reading this site for years absorbing the knowledge on this website. Thanks guys for the wealth of information.

I received a 77 f250 4x4 highboy from my brother after he botched and never finished the 78,79 power steering swap. He decided that he didn't want to cut the crossmember to but the new gear in and placed it to far forward. Doesn't help that his welds look like crap and he didn't grind anything down. Pictures tomorrow when I pick up the truck

Basically everything needs to be cut out and redone. But in order to get the truck running and driving until my shop/welding skills are up to par I want to put the manual gear box back in. Only issue is my brother lost the pitman arm and I can't find it any where.

Does anyone know where I can find it or if that pitman arm is interchangeable with a f100 4x4 or any other f series truck with a manual gear box? Or are they all separate arms?

2WD uses a completely different steering setup and won't work.

Unfortunately I couldn't locate any dealers or obsolete parts suppliers that have one.

EDIT: I did find one. NOS Parts in Waxahatchie, TX has one but its a gagger on price $185.00!

Yeah, that's pretty bad. The problem is, most obsolete parts suppliers know when they have the "one and only" part. If it's something critical like the steering arm then the sky's the limit.....how bad do you want to drive your truck? is pretty much how they price parts.
You should also post a WTB add here on FTE. There has to be a member out there that has one of these laying around.

That can be a hard pitman arm to come by, only the 76/77 highboy use that particular arm, the 67/75 highboy pitman arm is 2" shorter. If I can find one at my local yard you can have it for cost, plus shipping, it won't be for a couple weeks though.
