I believe that would be an f-4. Does it have a single or double wall frame?

Tonzfseries 07-03-2014 07:07 PM

Thanks Nick , Yes it is double rail up to the front of the rear spring hanger

mtflat 07-03-2014 07:10 PM

None of those numbers id the year. Single speed rear is F4 or 5, so what size wheels do you have?

Any vin no's on the firewall?

Being an Aussie truck, I wonder if it uses the Canadian system of serial numbers? Is it RHD?

BTW, welcome to the forum!

Looks an awful lot like an F-5 to me. Welcome to the forum.

We seem to have a good contingent of Aussies on this site now. That great.
Welcome to FTE!

What are your plans for it?

I can tell you the 7R8T means a 158" wheelbase for a F-4/5/6 truck.

It should have a Canadian vin number on the left side frame rail in the engine compartment and under the cab just after the transmission crossmember on the same side. I assume its also missing the tag plate on the top center of the firewall in the engine compartment.

There should also be a plate beside the starter solenoid on the right hand on the firewall. Can't quite remember what is exactly on this one but might help narrow it down.

That would be an F5 here in the states.

The Canada connection, hmmm - that front marker light does look like Mercury

Looks like a really nice solid truck.

Tonzfseries 07-04-2014 04:05 AM

Thanks for the welcome guys :)
It is a solid truck very little rust to good to pass up.
Yes Ross it is RH drive & unfortunately Nathan it is missing all the tags, i have had a wire brush on the left hand rail but found nothing. The cab is coming off so i will be looking for the number under the cab. Only thing as in parts so far on the list , not that i have look hard yet is a left hand outside door handle, right hand bonnet hinge, the plastic grill centre of dash, rubber kit, dash switchers & brake lines under g/box are rusted but I'm sure that list will get longer as it get broken down.

Everything you have listed there can be bought new mate, I bought all the same parts plus a heap more for my F3. Feel free to email me at aussiecowboy@gmail.com. I still have quite a few bits floating around. Bring the parts in direct from the states, DO NOT buy in Aus unless you're willing to mortgage your house!

Good Question Joe. The big picture is a full restore. Just haven't worked out all the bits in between. Im looking at some sort of small tilt tray for bikes and vintage tractor. A long story short is I have a small tilt tray towing business and move old bikes, cars, machinery, etc to shows and would like my transport truck to be a part of them.Love my Fords always had Fords so instead of restoring a ford car I thought a truck is something different and useful to complement what i do. At this point I would like to keep it stock all but the engine and box . I have a nice 351 windsor and auto but with the auto I would like to do something with the brakes. Not quiet shore about diff yet or ratios , Im leaving it all a bit open at this point till iI learn more about them see what others have done to improve and so on.
