Things you find under the hood of your truck

I forgot to mention the big round horn that mooos like a cow. It still works and I like it.

Found a mechanic more ingenious than me had created an adaptor to get a small paper air filter to fit the old carb in the place of the old oil bath filter. Still have the oil bath unit and like the looks of it better, but had some carb issues and had to get a better filter. I would like to find new wiring under the hood to replace what I have.

My F3 Marmon Herrington has a bull horn. Haven't heard it sound off, though.

You can have the wiring harness I found under the hood, and everywhere else, for that matter, of my truck.

Every single, stinking wire was yellow. And not a single solitary solder joint to be found anywhere. Just twisted ends and electrical tape. :-hair

You might find this post by Wayne (52 Merc) useful. I followed these instructions myself and it works perfectly.

Have you considered modifying your oil bath unit to accept a paper filter? I found some instructions on the net on how to do it and am much happier with the original filter look but paper filter innards. If you can't find it get back to me and I can post some pics of how its done

oops-I guess I should have read the whole post--that's exactly what I did with mine too

BTW--my engine ( running well a year ago before he painted it according to the owner), had paper towels stuffed into every intake and exhaust opening that had never been removed. mOf course I never believe that "running well" story either.

I found a quart of oil wedged between the firewall and inner fender, ATF bottle stuck between core support and headlight, a rat skeleton behind the throttle linkage by the carb, and a oily old rag stuck in the fan belt.

Looks like Tye the TruckGuy has the best list of things found so far. The previous owner usually says the truck is in great shape with no issues and you can't miss if you buy it. Guess the PO just added a few extra things for the price.

Actually, in a 1972 F100 from some years back, I found a propane carb set-up, and a 110 outlet/inverter box that looked original to 1972. I kept the inverter box. Someday, I'll dig it out of storage and see what brand name is on it.
