Thanks for hosting Mike! Yes Tom, it shifted into Drive and the drop in RPM's created a lot of turbo surge. You've got to let out of it or it will shorten the life of the turbo. For those that don't understand what turbo surge is, it is boost that is created that the engine can't use. Basically it trys to make the turbo run in reverse.

Something missing in the videos is the trip down that hill! We have to take the trailer down that hill, stop at the bottom and turn around. And that I believe is really just as important to take note. Mitch and I both smoked the brakes getting down that hill. That's a 12 and 14 year old truck for you. Matt and Scott's trucks really showed how much advancement has been made in both gas and diesel trucks in how well they can hold back that kind of load without using too much brake. Pulling is great, but not as important as being able to get it stopped. I down shifted to 2nd going down, then into 1st when I neared the bottom.

Hey Mike, didn't you say you weighed something like 21,000lbs with your truck and trailer when you picked it up?

Thanks for coming John! I don't remember the exact number when I crossed the scales but I want to say it was 21,600lbs.

Thanks for coming Mitch! I'm getting your second video uploaded now. And 4.30s wouldn't be a bad investment for as much as you tow.

No 6L ..?

The videos are awesome..

Dang downhill cars made me jump each time

Need videos from chase car, with the exhaust cloud...

Sent from my Sprint PC36100 using IB AutoGroup

You would not have seen any exhaust to speak of. All pretty clean burning trucks.

I was in the chase truck for both the 6.7 & 7.3 and not much of a smoke cloud at all. The weeds were really blowing from the exhaust. I was driving & riding in the gassers so don't know what it looked like.

Man I would really love to see a 5.4 make that pull.

Usually Matt (Ieathybrids) comes with his 6.0 but just a few days for our meet he texted me this pic.

Lifter bearing went bad and of course tore up the cam and I assume the low pressure oil pump. Seems to be a few of these threads with the lifter bearing going bad.

The second video of Mitch's with the 91 Tune is now up and original post edited.

No unfortunately. Would have been good for comparison sakes.

MitchPeters 06-24-2014 10:28 AM

91 tune gave it a couple mph throughout the pull.

Nice pulls gents. Awesome to see how much technology has changed and the capability of these trucks.

Thanks for the videos and hopefully I will be able to bring my 6.2 up there one day.

Definitely need some more 6.2 representation. I enjoy going but folks here are probably getting bored of my truck. Haha...

jstnromero 06-24-2014 02:56 PM

Haha it is okay....at least you are there to represent!

Hotpocket 06-24-2014 03:41 PM

Matt, your truck pulls amazingly. I would definitely get a 6.2 with 4.3 gears if i get a new truck.
