Boost should be coming in much sooner than 3K RPMs. So, if we treat this as a "No Boost" condition, my troubleshooting guide suggests the following sources and actions:

Source: Compressor air intake hose collapsed.
Action: Service as required. (That's helpful isn't it?)

Source: Intake manifold hoses leaking.
Action: Tighten hose clamps.

Source: Turbocharger turbine or compressor wheel damaged.
Action: Replace turbo.
You already stated you checked the wheel and it's okay, so this step isn't necessary.

Source: Turbocharger bearings seized. (I'm guessing the bearings are okay, too.)
Action: Replace turbo.

Source: Clogged air cleaner element or restriction upstream of compressor.
Action: Service as required.

Check these items and let us know how the truck responds.

If he had a issue with the turbo he'd have black smoke

um ok... thats wierd
(says my message is to short... >.> silly forums )

Source: Compressor air intake hose collapsed.
Action: Service as required. (That's helpful isn't it?) (lol)
the intake hose (red one ) it a little flimsy but it doesn't collaps so i think its "ok"

Source: Intake manifold hoses leaking.
Action: Tighten hose clamps.
these clamps are tight no issue there either

Source: Turbocharger turbine or compressor wheel damaged.
Action: Replace turbo.
You already stated you checked the wheel and it's okay, so this step isn't necessary. yup

Source: Turbocharger bearings seized. (I'm guessing the bearings are okay, too.)
Action: Replace turbo.
yea it seems to spin freely when i turn it with my fingers

Source: Clogged air cleaner element or restriction upstream of compressor.
Action: Service as required.
cleaned K&N filter was quite dirty when i started the trouble shooting last weekend so me thinks its OK (tho i still need to spray it with the oil i have it just need to do it lol)

Check these items and let us know how the truck responds.

or do i have to put something down here...>.> so it is running the same way after i did all this i am guessing that it will not run very well with that red boot off so im not gonna try unless one of u guys says itll run without it on.. (talking about the red inlet to the turbo itself)

How many miles on the truck ?
Have you checked fuel psi. ?
Does it still have the cat on it ?

To check boost you need a gauge or a good scan tool

i accualy have the cat disconnected right now from the downpipe ( i was thinking the cat was blocked ) but there was very little difference in my issue ... and i dont have a fuel pressure gauge to check it im trying to source one from friends so i can . no luck yet ... >.>

You can us a stick tire gauge to check fuel pressure.

IDMooseMan 06-20-2014 10:45 AM

You can run without your air inlet tube (red hose) but you run the risk of ingesting foreign material into the turbo. Troubleshooting in the driveway should be fine, but I wouldn't drive without the tube and filter installed.

FWIW, many folks do not like the K&N filter on these motors due to issues with foreign materials getting past the K&N and damaging the turbo wheel. I have not used a K&N on my truck. I upgraded the stock air filter to a NAPA 6637 air filter.

filter was in the truck when it was bought gonna leave it till he decides to change it if he wants to. ill see if i can find a stick pressure gauge around and try it out but i don't know how imma do the WOT test seems how its just me out here maybe when friend comes buy he can help but that might not be till tomorrow what should the idle pressure be and the WOT ?

fordpride 06-20-2014 08:41 PM

You are looking for psi at idle
40psi. min.
60-70psi. is ideal

It will at 10,000 feet lol

ok so i did the air stick fuel pressure test and all i can get is about 40 psi with it im wondering if its the fuel pump... it is 200k on the odo... and thats at WOT and idle ... is it worth replacing the pump regardless

More than likely, it's a worn out FPR spring. That's why I suggested the BB modification. If I still have a spare, and I think I do, PM your address info and I'll send it to you.

You can also purchase an "FPR Refresh Kit" from your local Ford dealership. I'm not sure if that is the "real" kit name or not, but I'm sure the parts person will know what you're talking about.

dragoon1101 06-20-2014 10:47 PM

whats a BB mod ... lol sorry like i said im totally newb at these motors...

EDIT: NVM i looked it up...i think ill try that in the morning sounds like a good start :P

ok im not sure on how to send PMs on here can anyone point me in the right direction

IDMooseMan 06-21-2014 09:27 AM

The easiest way to send someone a PM is:

1. Click on their username
2. Select "Send a private message to username"
3. Enter a subject/topic and message
4. Send it when you're ready

You only have 15 posts at this time. IIRC, you need to have 25 posts in order to use the PM system. I tried to send you a PM, but that option isn't available under your username yet.
