ground wire location?

i have a 2000 ranger with a 4.0 5 sp auto... when i tried starting the truck all i get is a single "click" after taking out the starter and testing it and checking all the wires connected to it i found that the main ground wire connected to the battery had the other end hiding up neat the front of the block near the pulley and it was not connected to anything ? ? ? ?

can someone tell me where this wire should be mounted... on the frame? to the engine block? ? and what size bolt will i need to buy? ?

thanks for any help... RC

Ground wires can be attached to the frame, make sure you have a good rust/paint/grease free surface to attach it to. Any bolt or whatever will do.

i actually went and looked at my uncles ranger and it is supposed to be connected at the starter... i guess someone changed it before i bought it 10 months ago and just tucked it under the block to get it out of the way and didnt put it back.... amazing it was ground enough for the last 10 months and didnt get knocked loose sooner... all is fine now...thanks...RC
