'98 4.2L swap to newer 4.2L motor?
 

I have searched and searched and haven't found anything definitive on this. I posted something similar in the Essex V6 forum but there isn't much action happening over there.

I am trying to help my Dad out, he has a '98 4.2L F-150 with a blown engine. I am looking to put a newer 4.2L back in it. Prices are a lot better on used '01+ 4.2's. I would like to swap over all the '98 covers, intake, exhaust manifolds, acc brackets, fuel rail, etc to a newer 4.2L. Any one had any issues or problems arise trying to do something similar, bolt pattern problems, fitment issues? I read something about a knock sensor difference but again nothing definitive.
